Killed for the Sake of Appetite
Most people don’t like to see animals suffering and dying. But nevertheless, every day people give money to industries that inflict suffering and death on animals.
They pay for chickens to be kept in cages, never able to stretch their wings, and that are made to grow so fast that their legs buckle and break. They pay for piglets to live in concrete pens which give them inflamed joints, and for calves to be taken from their mothers right after they’re born. They pay for cows to be chained to their stalls and for sheep to be herded together on metal floors. They pay for animals to be herded into trucks and taken off to meet their deaths on a conveyor belt.
The companies that produce meat, milk, eggs, wool and leather try to make people believe that these products are “necessary”.
NOAH encourages you to see through the lies and to stop paying for the mistreatment of animals by buying animal products. Human beings don’t need the products of animals´ suffering – we can live without killing. We can even live better, without the clammy hand of the livestock industry around the throat of our agricultural policies…
Animals are not “food” or “clothes”, but living creatures who want to live and to grow. Piglets and calves play, just like kittens do. Chickens and sheep experience happiness, just as we can see dogs do.
These animals have their own needs and their own desires for their lives – each individual animal in the meat industry’s cages and pens shares our capacity for sorrow and joy, the fear of death and the desire for life.
If people got to know these animals, their slaughter would be seen for the violent madness that it is.
